January 2019

Well another dolly year has just begun and we have had our first meeting of 2019.

Before I summarize the meeting highlights I want to give a huge shoutout to Maureen for hosting our Christmas Doll Club get together at her lovely Victorian home in historic James Bay. Maureen had the house fully decorated for Christmas with lots of lights, ornaments and whimsical touches, not to mention the wonderful array of paintings by local artists. The party was a huge hit and the club would like to have every Christmas gathering at a different member ‘s home. We think that Christmas 2019 may be held at Michele ‘s home in Saanich.

Now for news of the January meeting:

The show and tell had lots of “animal” creations and the members that attended the January meeting also brought the Christmas excnange dolls that they received. The pattern we used was Elinor ‘s “fire fairy” pattern, reduced to about 80%. The dolls were wonderful and so different depending on the fabrics and the interpretation as seen below.

There were more dolls exchanged at the Christmas party but the members were not in attendance at the January meeting.  Maureen led the discussion on challenges, workshops and possible demonstrations for 2019.  The discussion produced many fine suggestions thanks to all who participated.

Here are the animal dolls made by our members:
